Former Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. George Daika has described the attack and harassment of Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Barr. Nyesom Wike as disgraceful and condemnable.
He said this in the release made available to viewpoint Nigeria as shown below:
November 12th, 2017
ATTACK, CONSTANT HARASSMENT AND ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS ON GOVERNOR NYESOM WIKE DISGRACEFUL AND HIGHLY CONDEMNABLE
At the time we thought Nigeria’s political system is fast growing and political thuggery has been addressed we were greeted with a sad, embarrassing and pathetic situation in Rivers State in which the Executive Governor, His Excellency Barr. Nyesom Wike was harassed by security operatives belong to the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
This is not only a sad situation but a national embarrassment which must be carefully investigated and culprits brought to book to face the full wrath of the law.
I condemn such act in the strongest possible terms.
This is an attempt to silence the opposition by using the federal might and security apparatus to continually harassed and drag their names to the mud.
Gov. Nyesom Wike is a performing Governor and loved by the people hence the massive supporters he enjoys not only in Rivers State but across the nation as a strong voice.
Gov. Nyesom Wike has also been one of the best performing Governors in Nigeria as his great achievements are there speaking for him all the time.
Gov. Wike has been able to win the hearts of the people he is leading by entrenching good governance and carrying out gigantic projects and people-oriented programmes and policies.
The harassments and assassination attempts are highly condemnable.
I want to call on law enforcement agencies to ensure those responsible are arrested with immediate effect and made to face the law.
I call on the good people of Rivers State and the PDP to continue to give their unflinching supports to Governor Nyesom Wike in this trying moment.
I call on His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Wike not to be deterred but remain resolute and provide the much needed democratic dividends to the people who God used to give him this mandate.
To my PDP family, these times of trials, tribulations and persecution needs perseverance and will soon be a thing of the past.
May we all be committed towards regaining power from deceptive APC.
Rt. Hon. George Edwards Daika
Former Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly
